Computer aided design. I loved being able to draft something in 3D and achieve levels of detail that weren’t possible when drawing. This is of course now common place, so I’m showing my age a little!

I enjoyed the variety of subjects (from Maths to Design to Thermodynamics), making lots of new friends and really beginning to understand how all kinds of devices worked.

It was a great social and learning experience and I also enjoyed being a student in a completely different part of the country from where I grew up.

Learning about parts of the human body before learning how we can use engineering to fix them. For example, studying the anatomy of the human knee and then learning to design artificial knees to help injured athletes or people with arthritis walk without pain again.
