It’s nice to hear I could inspire you Charlotte. I’d say my dad was my inspiration as he got me interested in design technology at school and engineering at university. He always used to leave random parts around the house that he tries to fix. The house was always a mess but he got things working!

That’s great to know – thanks. There have been plenty of people who’ve inspired me, some more than others. My parents nurtured my interest in taking things apart and putting them back together (sometimes the things still worked, other times they didn’t!), so I have them to thank when I was a kid.

I was inspired by a charity I did a project with at uni. They set up local wheelchair fabrication facilities in less developed countries and employ local skills and use local materials to make chairs appropriate for those who would otherwise not be mobile. The guy who founded that company inspired me to get involved with practical medical applications of design/engineering.

Generally, I’m inspired by anybody who has the motivation to commit to helping others without financial reward.

My inspiration was probably my dad. He was an engineer and got me interested in looking at how things work and how they are built.

It’s very nice to know that you find the Engineers here an inspiration too. Thanks.
