We have prototypes that work in jelly and meat from the butcher! But the project is going to continue for at least four more years. This is exciting but also shows how much progress can still be made.

In the future we want to test a system that uses the steerable needle with a robot to deliver it precisely into the brain. This will be linked to all kinds of imaging devices to see where it is travelling inside the head. There are lots of tasks that we are still working on where the control of the needle motion is being developed. We think we can move the needle so that it does even less damage to the brain tissue as it is pushed in.

It will be an exciting project for years to come!
