First I went to university for eight years! That’s not a job though!!

During the school holidays I did jobs in warehouses to earn some cash. After I finished university I needed to take some time to see where I wanted my career to go. As I still needed to make some money to live on I took a temporary job working at the Department for Education. I was incredibly lucky to be in a group whose focus was school buildings and architecture. This was interesting and also included some engineering because schools need to be kept at the right temperature and the air needs to be fresh and the water needs to be clean. So that job lasted about 18 months and was the first real post that I had after leaving university.
