Hi. I don’t really have a single role model. My dad was an Engineer so I could see that as a career I would probably be happy doing this. He also taught me lots of things about how things work and how to look at problems.

I’ve been very lucky in my career. All my bosses have been good! I’ve learned a lot from each of them and they have all inspired me in different ways. I don’t try to copy what they do. Instead, I try to take the lessons that I have learned from them through the rest of my life as an Engineer. Sometimes those lessons are small – like how to deal with a difficult customer, and sometimes those lessons are very big – like how to write about my research in the best way.
