Vote for your favourite engineer. It’s completely up to you who you choose.

Just like many engineers, there are so many things we can do to help people. I can help students learn more about the heart and heart valves and one day they’ll become future biomedical engineers. I can help through writing in book chapters and articles, as well as create posters about heart valves for the general public. I can also help by designing a valve that will be an improvement from current valves. I’m researching to design a valve for young children as they don’t have a lot of heart valve options like adults do.

It’s a free vote, so go with what you feel.

My aim as an engineer is to apply useful research into applications that help medical specialists to deliver healthcare more effectively. I publish my results widely in journals, books and conferences plus I also run conferences and workshops free of charge to medical specialists and researchers who are interested in this area. I am keen to begin more undergraduate teaching since starting some this year.

Some of my projects involve direct working with people who have life-long conditions (such as missing limbs, lymphoedema) from birth and desire the application of engineering to improve their self esteem. Those cases are rewarding. Other cases are from injuries and burns, where I use engineering to help reduce scaring or improve the person’s looks after they have recovered.
